GEORAM General Manager receives the Best Research Paper award at CONAMIN 2026
Eng. José Luis Ramírez Castañeda was recognized in the Geology and Exploration category for his research on cross-validation in geostatistical methods applied to three-dimensional geotechnical models of open pits.
June 2026. At the National Mining Congress CONAMIN 2026, GEORAM's General Manager, Eng. José Luis Ramírez Castañeda, received the award for the Best Research Paper in Geology and Exploration.
The award was presented at the Research Paper Awards (ITIS) ceremony of the 16th National Mining Congress, organized by the Lima Departmental Council of the Peruvian College of Engineers. Eng. Ramírez received a certificate and a trophy, after presenting his research to the congress attendees.
The award-winning paper
The research, entitled "Cross-Validation in Geostatistical Methods Applied to Three-Dimensional Geotechnical Models of Open Pits", stood out for its contribution to tools and methodologies that support more accurate, efficient and safer mining.
The study relates to one of GEORAM's specialties: geotechnical modeling of open pits, which integrates drill hole, mapping and testing databases to characterize the rock mass and support slope design.
